Are you passionate about full dentures? The 14th International KunstZahnWerk (KZW) Competition again requires you to solve a challenging case in which you can show your precision and apply your skills.

The Competition

The KZW is one of the oldest and most renowned dental technology competitions in the industry. It is sponsored and organized by CANDULOR every two years. The focus here is on solving a case involving full denture prosthetics, which presents particularly a challenge to your technical skills and your understanding of the functional relationships of the orofacial system. 

The Case

The aim is to fabricate an age-appropriate, characterful, esthetic, mucosa-supported maxillary and mandibular full denture based on a detailed model analysis. The pronounced atrophy of the mandible represents a real challenge. In addition, you should also document your approach while creating the work (photos/texts or film). This is definitely worthwhile, as the best documentaries are awarded prizes and will be published in various professional journals.

After your registration, we will send you the detailed information on the complete patient case, to give you some approaches to solve the task. In addition, we provide you with the matching maxillary and mandibular plaster models, the physiognomic bite key, the denture teeth and the evaluation sheet. 

We can already share the following requirements:

• The work must be prepared by using the GERBER set-up method (tooth-to-tooth relationship).
• The finished dentures must be submitted in a CANDULOR articulator or a partially or fully adjustable articulator.

The Jury

An independent jury of prosthetics experts will judge the submitted works according to a defined catalog of criteria. During this procedure, great importance is attached to a comprehensible analysis, the set-up of the teeth as well as the characterization of the denture. In addition, the jury assesses whether the work meets the patient's wishes for better hold, increased chewing performance and natural esthetics.

The Award

The 15 best dentures and documentaries will be honored. In detail this means, that the 3 best submissions will receive the CANDULOR Awards and places 4-15 as well as the 3 best documentaries will receive small gifts.

• Following your registration, you will receive a confirmation from us.
• You should return your completed work and documentation to us latest by January 12, 2025. Details will be provided together with the patient case and the materials. 
• The winners will be announced at the IDS in Cologne on Friday, March 28, 2025. In addition, the best works will be exhibited on our booth.
